Adobe Creative Cloud

Which application to use for what?

Adobe, with its "Creative Cloud", undoubtedly offers one of the best, if not the best and most used product range for professionals in the field of design and implementation. In the long term, no creative person can do without applications such as Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign. Filmmakers are also catered for with programs like Premiere Pro, Premiere Rush and After Effects. Even programmers won't miss out with Dreamweaver.

In the following, we will introduce you to the most important and well-known Adobe Creative Cloud applications and explain what they were made for and what they are best used for.

Photoshop

Photoshop, as the name suggests, was developed for image editing. It is optimal for editing photos and graphics, but can also be seen as a kind of all-rounder, since the possibilities and tools are now countless. For example, it is also easily possible to design user interfaces or magazines with it. For optimal work processes and results, however, we recommend using the corresponding applications.

Illustrator

Adobe Illustrator is the undisputed market leader in graphics and illustrations. Specially developed for drawing and creating computer graphics, this program is vector-based, which means that you don't have to fear any loss of quality. Thus, graphics created here, unlike pixel-based, can theoretically be enlarged to infinity without any loss of quality/resolution.

InDesign

InDesign is the layout and typesetting program of the Adobe product range. It was developed specifically to create, for example, flyers, magazines, etc.. Not only the tools but also the export options and possibilities are designed for this. Thus files can be prepared with InDesign e.g. uncomplicatedly and optimally for the pressure.

XD

Adobe XD was developed especially for the creation of user interfaces. It is therefore ideally suited for designing websites or web applications and mobile apps. Here, the export options have been designed accordingly to export mockups and, with the help of plug-ins, to make them easily available to other team members, e.g. via Zeplin.

Premiere Pro

Premiere Pro is the video editing software of the Adobe Creative Cloud. Thus, this program is specifically designed for creating videos or movies. The same goes for Premiere Rush, which is, however, as the name suggests, a slimmed-down version of Premiere Pro. Ideally suited for smaller projects or beginners.

After Effects

After Effects is a compositing and animation software. It can be used, for example, to create motion design clips (intros for TV shows, typo animations, bumpers, etc.) or visual effects for film and television. The main task of the program is to animate clips in a two- or three-dimensional space.
